Millionaire Mormon Ranchers Always Get Their Way, Indians Get Off Of Your Land!

In the news in the last week has been the story of a downtrodden millionaire rancher who has refused to pay the Bureau of Land Management grazing fees for 20 years.  Cliven Bundy refused to pay grazing fees on federal land and invited 1000 of his militia Nazi buddies who were heavily armed to release his confiscated cattle. The Federal government backed down yesterday to a bunch of Neo nazi shit kickers. Add to this menagerie of assholes is that Bundy is claiming his right to continue bilking us out of our money the fact that “my Mormon faith teaches me I have a right to this land”. What a load of shit!

White Millionaire Rancher Cliven Bundy who refuses to pay for grazing on public land. Government Backs Down After Heavily Armed Militia Nazis Show up to protest.

Now contrast this with the treatment of Western Shoshone Tribal members Carrie and Mary Dann in 1998 after grazing cattle on land that was rightfully theirs since 1973 the US government ordered them off of their own land. In 2003 Federal agents with back up from local cowboys swept onto the Dann sisters traditional grazing lands in helicopters, on ATVs, and on horseback they confiscated 504 horses that belonged to the Dann sisters. at one point elder Clifford Dann doused himself with gasoline to stop federal agents to no avail. In the end the Federal government hung a 3 million dollar bill around the Dann sisters necks and kept their horses. Mary Dann passed on in 2005 at the age of 82. Carrie is still with us. The Western Shoshone land claim was upheld by the United Nations. The United States refuses to acknowledge the treaty.

Carrie and Mary Dann Ordered by the BLM to remove livestock they owned from contested Shoshone tribal lands. Forced to comply.

Carrie and Mary Dann Ordered by the BLM to remove livestock they owned from contested Shoshone tribal lands. Forced to comply.

So here we are in 2014 and white ranchers are still using their faith to steal our land and Indigenous people who have a real and spiritual claim to the land are still being herded, harassed, and intimidated into giving it up. Had Cliven Bundy been an Indian we would be talking about a dead Indian. White millionaires just have an amazing ability to get whatever they want.

Personally, I believe that Indian people should follow Cliven Bundy’s lead and forcibly seize treaty land back. If all a millionaire Mormon rancher has to do to refuse to pay his taxes and invite a few friends with M-16s over to the house and wave the guns at federal agents then I guess that is what Indian Country should do. The last time I checked when people did things like this the government was accusing them of ‘acts of terrorism”. I guess not. I guess this means it’s open season for anyone who wants to steal from the government.

The absurdity of the BLM to back down in this situation is staggering. Because he claimed that according to his Mormon faith he doesn’t have to pay for grazing fees? Really? The legal ramifications of this will resound all over the country if the US government refuses to hold this “cowboy” accountable to the same standards that a person of color, a poor person, or anyone else for that matter. The head of the BLM is either in on the gag or is a yellow chickenshit wimp.

The memory of the proud Dann sisters standing up to demand that the Ruby Valley Treaty of 1863 be upheld. In 1979, the Us government offered the Western Shoshone miniscule amount of money to abandon their claims to the land. 80% of the Western Shoshone people voted against the settlement and the tribe, the nation, demanded the treaty be upheld. It has never been upheld. This situation is extremely troubling. The fact that the land that Cliven Bundy was grazing his cattle on was possibly on disputed Ruby Valley Treaty land that had been stolen from the Western Shoshone is more than ironic.

If the feds refuse to hold Cliven Bundy accountable for his tax liens then I say they can hold no one accountable. None of us should pay this sham government a penny until it has honored all treaties with the indigenous people of this land. What right do they have to round up some poor indigenous folks livestock for non payment of BLM grazing fees on THEIR OWN LAND and then walk away when some redneck millionaire screams “I’m a Mormon this land is mine”.  All of this happens on a backdrop of a government that stole a trillion dollars from the tribes that was then paid back 10 cents on the dollar in the Cobell Settlement. The BLM, The Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the entire US government to blame. Troubling, troubling indeed.

  1. I will never stand with a Moromon who says his faith insures his right to take my land. Period. If government oppression was good enough for the Dann sisters then it should be good enough for this gentleman. Where were you people in 2003 when the government rounded up 504 of the Dann sisters cattle? This is hilarious.

    • If they were white, religious, and gun owning he’d care. But the right wing doesn’t care about equal treatment under the law, they want all who are not like them to be 2nd class citizens.

    • Hahahah this is the same shit White people always say. “We all have to stand together” they say when they want Indigenous people to get behind white people on Indian land being allowed to graze their cattle for free on what was our land. Bottom line, most white people are never there for Indian Country. You are never there for black folks, you are never there for latinos, just out for your own self interest. I have no resentment toward all white people. Just white people like you who refuse to acknowledge the truth.

    • In 2003 most of “us people” were not awake yet to what is really going on, nor did we know about agenda 21. How can you call us white people racist, since by calling all of us racist makes you racist against white people?

      • There are many many white people who have supported our cause and the cause of all indigenous people. Once again I made no statement of hatred toward all white people. Bundy is on disputed treaty lands of the Shoshone. If you support us demand he and all grazers, timber companies, and pipelines leave indian lands. Stand with our white brothers and sisters who support us. IF you are against our cause I am calling you racist. If you are for Bundy you just seem to fail to understand his privilege and his entitlement in grazing on lands taken from the Shoshone in the first place.

      • Where do you stand on the town in Wyoming earlier this year where land was to be returned by the US government to the Arapaho and the Shoshone. According to treaty. Where do you stand on that. Good people who want to support our fight will support returning the land.

    • There is no such thing as my land or your land…..even the American Indians killed each other over land rights (before white man arrived). I am sure that you don’t have a leg to stand on my dear….everyone came from some other place and moved, killed or integrated the pervious civilization. So SHUT THE _____ UP!

      • This is a perfect post to show the intelligence of the “militia” movement. A complete disregard for history and facts.

    • I’m Oneida Nation of the Six Nations Confederacy. I am with you brother & sister of how this government has stolen our lands through treaties, theft, genocide, and deceit! But your heart grows dark & your comments can only suggest hatred of all whiteman! You must seek help & guidance for your personal pain and your perceptions of non-natives.
Do not bleed this hatred into your own children, as it will stunt their growth and spiritualism which exists in all men weak or strong. I was in that bad place too with resentment of our past, but needed to look deep into my own reflection and found the same dark behaviours which stole my happiness and health of mind!
US citizens now share our burden of dealing with a run-away government hellbent on more division and most likely a culling of its own citizens through polluted foods, water, and vile entertainment designed to keep all zombiefied to their true intentions.
Dont let them take the one thing in yourself that is pure. Your individual spirituality! I pray for you friend…

      • You might want to read the other article at the top of my page. I have nothing but love for people who support our cause. I will not entertain these fascists ideas about being entitled to Indian land.

  2. No I am not owned by Fox or CNN, you didn’t leave any comment yesterday or I would have seen it.

  3. It looks like an offer has been made, and I was surprised for the offer but you rejected the offer, while I would have accepted the offer with the idea of expanding the the offer with his friends, friends he can access and you can’t. I am from Canada and our community or tribal leaders have not joined our local, provincial and national Chambers of Commerce so we can speak to the business men/women who in turn speak to our elected institutions several times a year. Because of this we are standing on the outside and no one knows what our issues are and the solutions we see and with their input, how fast we can make our dreams come true today! We need to stop our own segregation and step into participation and read, The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles and you can find it on Youtube so every Indian needs to read this and understand what is saying. Every Indian!
My son is a self-made multi-millionaire who keeps telling me, first put on your own oxygen mask before helping anyone else. I finally am reading this book and that is exactly what it says about poverty and prosperity.

    • Sounds great why don’t you start by drawing attention to this double standard of justice? “We” are not this wealthy mormon rancher. He is not a part of the struggle. He is on Indian land in the first place. Start by asking him to leave it!

    • I am no longer accepting lunatic comments on here from people who equate socialism with fascism, or death threats, or militia crap until or if you right wing militia folks, you pro Bundy folks respond to this article posted below. I want to know the answer. Would you support the Wind River reservations absorbing Riverton Wyoming? Would you support the return of the Black Hills. If not do not bother posting here.

Militiamen and So Called Patriots Do not Support the Cause of Indigenous Sovereignty

Many white people say they support the treaty rights of indigenous people. Those people are invaluable allies. Many say they do but do nothing to show it. Let’s explore this a bit.
Earlier this year President Obama in a rare show of support by a sitting US president announced that the town of Riverton Wyoming and around one million acres of land in the surrounding area were part of the Wind River Reservation and that they must be returned. The state of Wyoming, Republicans, and militiamen all over the country spread the story. “Riverton Wyoming told they are not part of the United States. Well Riverton Wyoming is not part of the United States. The Wind River Casino is in Riverton. The town has no problem with all those casino revenues. Interesting.
Now in the wake of the Cliven Bundy situation, I have written and article on this blog that challenges the two sided justice Indian people are receiving in Nevada. Drawing attention to the fact that the Bureau of Land Management had released the Bundy cattle while in 2003 Carrie and Mary Dann had 504 cattle confiscated and sold at auction because they were grazing on tribal land. Now I am being attacked on all sides by militia nuts who say 1) I am a racist 2) I hate Mormons 3) Let’s all stand together against the evil government.
So I wanted to write this piece to call out to all of these socalled new found friends to say a couple of things. First I want to know, do you support the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone in the return of Riverton Wyoming and the 1 million acres to the tribe? You see Republicans and militiamen in Wyoming have also raised the alarms of black helicopters and tyranny over this issue. Well do you? Do you support the honoring of all treaties being broken even if it means that you yourself may have to move into a new home purchased by the US government to make way for Indian people to come back home?
If you do not support the honoring of all Indian treaties you are not supporting American Indians or the indigenous people of this land. It is quite simple. Another example? The Black Hills were promised to the Lakota people in the Fort Laramy Treaty of 1868. This includes an area of 8,400 square miles. This is an area almost the size of New Hampshire or 7 times bigger than Rhode Island and almost exactly the size of New Jersey. The Supreme Court ruled in 1980 that the treaty was still binding but found that it was unreasonable to honor the treaty at this time. So the US government offered an miniscule amount of money to get the Lakota to relinquish their claim. The Lakota turned the money down. The land must be returned. If you claim to support Indian people then you will support these treaties. There are hundreds of treaties that have been broken. It is time they be honored.
Militiamen are quick to run to the defense of a millionaire Mormon grazing on public land and refusing to pay the grazing fees. The fact of the matter is that most white people and especially white people out West are in no hurry to support indigenous land claims. Many white people do support the honoring of treaties and I honor them. The militia movement was founded in this country by men like John Trochman a former white supremacist, many of the militia organizations in the country were founded by right wing fascist who hide behind the American constitution and it’s flag.
Look at the case of the Arizona minutemen Shawna Forde who has been convicted of killing a Latino father Raul “Junior” Flores and his 9 year old little girl Brisenia. This was a robbery gone wrong where the Minutemen were looking to make money from robbery. There have been reports in Arizona of the Minutemen shooting Latinos crossing into the US and others. Do indigenous people have any allies among these extremists? I do not think so.
It may be tempting to look for allies among these American thieves but remember their main line. They SUPPORT THE US CONSTITUTION in its original form. What does that mean? We know what it means Indigenous people, African people. all nonwhite people were not considered human. Slavery was legal. Women did not have right to vote. Thomas Jefferson himself authored the Indian Removal act first in 1803 and then it passed under President Jackson. So do we really have anything in common with a bunch of militiamen threatening federal agents to protect a Mormon who says it is his “divine right” to graze on stolen Western Shoshone land? We do not.
Several have posted on this site. “We are all in this together”. So I challenge all you militiamen and Republicans out there. If you support Indigenous people, then support the return of Riverton Wyoming back to the Wind River reservation. Support the return of the Black Hills. After that happens maybe we might believe you when you say you are on the side of indigenous people.
      Reply to that! Please!

      • Thank you for writing this piece. Nobody could’ve put that any better, and I like your writing style and honesty. As a black American, I agree that the United States of American should honor its earlier treaties to Native Americans. I prefer Native Americans to Indians since Indian’s originated from India. If I were to be kicked out of my place due to the return of Native Americans land, I could live with that, and it would seem honorable and a respectable thing to do. I empathize with what was done to them, and would like to restore or claim respect to the US. White Americans are privileged and always have been, and I’m so sick of hearing many(people I know) say poor me, I’m a poor white American who isn’t privileged, but the truth is they are. Hardly any person, lets say Florida, would look at a white woman or man as a suspect as much as they would a black young man or man. Many, white people don’t want to think or believe that America is still racist and extremely prejudice when it comes to people of color. People believe they can be colorblind, but that simply doesn’t exist, especially when it comes to colored people. Many whites believe that the US is a white nation and should remain one. All of this befuddles me. Anyways good post and I hope I see your name nationally.

      • America is quickly moving towards civil war, what I understand about the Bundy situation and others like this is that the federal government has had a pogrom in which they are attempting to rid all public land use by farmers and ranchers, they are not selecting one group of people over any other, there have been hundreds of land grabs in the past several years. I hope the militias continue to support citizens from this crazy government! And yes it does sound like a return to native possession the mentioned area of Wyoming would be a positive move for everyone.

      • Thank you for being the first person to respond to my question, unfortunately the militias in Wyoming responded to the Riverton Wyoming situation put out flaming critique saying that they would stand with the residents of Riverton to make sure Riverton was not taken “away from the United States.

      • I will reply: WELL SAID. Truth. Thank you.

  4. Actually this was going on since 1998 and it is not true that the Dann Sisters never asked for help. They called for many protests even when their livestock was auctioned they held a protest. They asked the UN to step in to demand the treaty be upheld and the UN did step in. The US ignored it. Indigenous people do not enjoy any support from the militia movement when treaties are violated. In fact Mr Bundy’s cattle were on treaty land.

    • There has been a HUGE change in communication since 1998! I had never heard of the Dann Sisters until right now. And I heard of it because of the internet. I am READY, and I know millions of others, are ready to put a stop to the bullshit that has been perpetrated against all people- we just have to KNOW about it. I stand behind the Lakota in their protest of the KXL pipeline! If I had the $$ for transportation, I would be right there with them PHYSICALLY! We are learning more and more each day about stuff like this and our (yours and mine) Nation are becoming fed up with the crap! Don’t divide us! Let us stand with you!

      • We would love to have you stand with us. What does this article about an entitled millionaire who uses religion to defend his misuse of the land have to do with you supporting indigenous people? Support us and draw attention to this double standard!

  5. Don’t know why I am responding to this except to show people what rabid assholes look like. You might try to refer to the facts in the case. I don’t care one lick about being an American or wasn’t that clear on my page.

  6. Yes my father did abuse me. Yes I was picked on but I fought back. I do not need your attention but thanks for giving it anyway.

  7. Hi-I’m an editor with The Good Man Project and would be interested in reprinting this there. How can I contact you?

  8. Please provide proof that this man is not a millionaire.

  9. Murican! Witch burnin’ slave ownin’ injun killin’ MURICAN!

  10. well i will maybe open eyes and maybe i will just stir up more ignorance… AmericKKKa and KKKanada are just that … they were bases on false bulcrap and still dictate on such … first lets get into “treaties” 1779, George Washington instructed Major General John Sullivan to attack Iroquois people. Washington stated, “lay waste all the settlements around…that the country may not be merely overrun, but destroyed”. In the course of the carnage and annihilation of Indian people, Washington also instructed his general not “listen to any overture of peace before the total ruin of their settlements is effected”. (Stannard, David E. AMERICAN HOLOCAUST. New York: Oxford University Press, 1992. pp. 118-121.)In 1807, Thomas Jefferson instructed his War Department that, should any Indians resist against America stealing Indian lands, the Indian resistance must be met with “the hatchet”. Jefferson continued, “And…if ever we are constrained to lift the hatchet against any tribe, ” he wrote, “we will never lay it down till that tribe is exterminated, or is driven beyond the Mississippi.” Jefferson, the slave owner, continued, “in war, they will kill some of us; we shall destroy all of them”.Sir John A. McDonald- regarding the Indian situation in both united states and Canada ” we have been pampering and coaxing the Indian; that we must take a new course, we must vindicate the white man , we must teach the Indian what law is. made that statement July 6, 1885 because one of his best friends died june 25 1876. General William Tecumseh Sherman you are rushing into a war with one of the most powerful indigenously mechanical people on earth- right at your doors. you are bound to fail make treaties we are not bound by them….“I intend if possible to keep up a good correspondence with the Saint John’s Indians, a warlike people, tho’ Treaties with Indians are nothing, nothing but force will prevail.” Governor Edward Cornwallis – British Governor of Nova Scotia, 1749 – 1752 … so we know treaties are based on bullcrap.so how was USA and canada form? mmm…The treaty of Paris 1783, the jay treaty 1794,the london convention 1818,Ashburton treaty 1842, The Oregon 1846, the IBS 1872-76 ,IBC 1925, so how do they call themselves “sovereign” countries, now where in either history has a indian concented to them . but did the so called “american” people know… LETTER FROM ROTHSCHILD AGENT COLONEL EDWARD MANDELL HOUSE TO WOODROW WILSON (PRESIDENT) [1913-1921] FOUND IN WILSON’S PERSONAL DIARY/LOGS

    Colonel Edward Mandell-House:

“[Very] soon, every American will be required to register their biological property in a National system designed to keep track of the people and that will operate under the ancient system of pledging. By such methodology, we can compel people to submit to our agenda, which will affect our security as a chargeback for our fiat paper currency. Every American will be forced to register or suffer not being able to wok and earn a living.

They will be our chattel, and we will hold the security interest over them forever, by operation of the law merchant under the scheme of secured transactions. Americans, by unknowingly or unwittingly delivering the bills of laden to us will be rendered bankrupt and insolvent, forever to remain economic slaves through taxation, secured by their pledges.

They will be stripped of their rights and given a commercial value designed to make us a profit and they will be non the wiser, for not one man in a million could ever figure our plans and, if by accident one or two would figure it out, we have in our arsenal plausible deniability.

After all, this is the only logical way to fund government, by floating liens and debt to the registrants in the form of benefits and privileges. This will inevitably reap us huge profits beyond our wildest expectations and eave every American a a contributor to this fraud which we call “Social Insurance.” Without realizing it, every American will insure us for any loss we may incur and in this manner; every American will unkowningly be our servant, however begrudgingly.

The people will be helpless and without any hope for thier redemption and, we will employ the high office of the President of our dummy corporation to foment this plot against America.”…

now i support the Bundy’s yet unless all wake to the truth and want to look at the native as you are American or Canadian after they realize their so called “country” leaders are fake.. and want to make a new truce with the native .. i will stand at my peoples side and tell foreigners to move on because under “colonial” laws it is stated natives own all of the americas …if you truly know how to read the De Facto Laws….yet yes ownership is just a way to say commerce .. and our people were never so called commerce of oligarchy system ever.. neither was most of the world once they realize it to.. yes my ancestors had a dream and it can still be possible. only if people start waking to the truths about all this bullcrap the gov’ts are feeding people..

    • Don’t see why you support this millionaire Bundy if you believe everything you just posted.

      • This is just sickening.

  11. Thank you so much for writing this. I’ve pointed out the hypocrisy to many – why does this man’s claim of “I’ve been on the land longer!” matter to everyone so much; yet government can take land from Natives, and banks can take houses from poor minorities and everyone says “oh well, that’s the law”. I tried to point out to everyone that they’re getting played by a lazy, disrespectful man; I tried to point out that the rancher was the one who chose to inflame rather than diffuse the situation; that he’s had since the ’90’s to deal with this in a peaceful way and chose not to. I tried to point out that if the small concessions we must make to preserve wildlife seem too great to someone, they cannot rightly call themselves a “freedom fighter” – what freedom can exist in a barren landscape?
But that’s America – rich white men do as they please while everyone else gets told “tough shit”.
And all these other comments on here – your racism is showing jackasses. All your insults fly so freely because none of you want to admit the racism that this country was built on or your continued participation in it. You all CHOOSE to remain ignorant of what the energy industry is doing to tribal lands for the sake of your comforts. Again and again, we fight to protect water, wildlife and land; we put up posters, make entire websites and even talk about it on radio and television spots. Yet nobody shows… Nobody to help the natives protect what we ALL rely on… but heaven forbid a rich rancher loose his stupid cattle and pay his fees right???
The arrogance of “you have to read this book” – another moral-warping piece of trash put out by one of the many self-serving thieves of the age.
Then the small worldview man had to make his “your opinion must be propaganda – cause its different than mine!” comment… WTF is wrong with you people? Do ANY of you understand that your experience IS NOT everyone else’s experience?
Anyway, thank you again for writing this. I have shared it everywhere I can. It won’t make a dent for the closet racist who believes in the idiocy of ‘Manifest Destiny” or those who defend and make excuses for the largest genocide in history while waxing about ‘our great nation’ – but for those who actually bother to research history and world events from perspectives other than the Warlords and tyrants perspective – this is great. Thank you for your voice.

  12. Are you serious?!…Why is that they get money and they think they can run the whole show….This man needs to get lost with his money someplace else….

  13. Thanks for posting the truth about this! Most of us are so bombarded with right-wing propaganda that it’s hard to tell what is true anymore. Keep up the good work!

    • For me it is not about he is a Mormon, it is about the fact that there are two standards of justice, one for rich white people and one for poor people and people of color. It is also about the fact that he says that he bases his belief that he has “divine right” to the land based on his faith. That is the same manifest destiny that white people have always used to justify taking our land. Remember this land that he was grazing cattle on was disputed treaty land that was stolen from the Western Shoshone. If you are native stand with your people.

    • DO you know the history of Mormons and Christians and our people? The millions they killed? in the name of their “faith”? Think about it. This guy Bundy says God told him he had a divine right to Native land. That is manifest destiny and everything that is wrong with this country. The government release his cattle after the militias came on the scene. When it was two native women, the Dann sisters, 504 horses were taken and auctioned off. How is this fair?

  14. Americans just can’t handle the truth about racism. Actually, Canadians aren’t much different. People should shut up and think about it instead of lashing out. It would do all of us some good to step back and see these issues from a marginalized point of view. People who support Bundy are the sort who have no qualms about voting for a party that protects their desire to walk around and pretend they’re in the military, even if it means barring more people of colour from voting – in fact, a lot of them like that aspect of conservative ideology, too. White people only start crying about human rights when they feel their own rights or privilege are threatened; you rarely hear them standing up for the people whose backs they’ve been stepping on this whole time. Point that out, and you get viciously attacked.

  15. Sounds like Wounded Knee but the players are European-Americans. Definitely a case of entitlement. And egomaniacal. How can anyone back a millionaire? Just 3 percent live in that world. They will go to great lengths to prove their point. Look at the Koch brothers. This will not be the last that we will hear from them.

    • The only way the Koch bros. will be supported is BY TELLING LIES. Period.

  16. When did I say we should drive away supporters because of the evils of this man,. we would love your support, spread the word about the injustice and double standard that is being perpetrated in this situation. When did anyone say anything about the color of your skin. We are talking about the color of American justice. The color of American justice is White.

    • This is the first I’ve heard of the Dann sisters, that is awful! but I’m guessing if they showed up with a militia everyone would probably be dead, and the government would have justified it somehow. to find that the land was taken from the Shoshone tribe, in particular the Dann sisters and livestock stolen and auctioned off, were is the justice for people! Just to be clear the colour of any justice is green!!!

  17. Dann Sisters info is easy to google they are quite famous. The info on Bundy is him in his won word to the media and media about him.

  18. White Mormons have also massacred the indigenous people of this land. How can he claim divine right to our land? You are confused.

    • There is no such thing as my land or your land…..even the American Indians killed each other over land rights (before white man arrived). I am sure you don’t have a leg to stand on my dear….everyone came from some other place and moved, killed or integrated the pervious civilization. So SHUT THE _____ UP!

    • No did you see this as well?

Actually =, there is evidence that has been gathered by the Southern Poverty Law Center that shows that the militia movement was founded by Neo nazis and Christian Identity extremists. That is a fact. John Trochmann, Bo Gritz, Timothy McVeigh, and Randy Weaver were all White separatists that has been documented. The Minuteman movement leaders have been charged with murder in Arizona on multiple occasions. I am not shooting from the hip I am doing research.

  19. The injustice continues to this day. He is not my countryman.I have nothing to say about the United Snakes of America.

  20. I am now officially cutting off comments that are not supportive of Indian people. This racist drivel is getting old.

  21. Where do you stand on the town in Wyoming earlier this year where land was to be returned by the US government to the Arapaho and the Shoshone. According to treaty. Where do you stand on that. Good people who want to support our fight will support returning the land.

  22. Thanks for mentioning the Dann sisters. I was pissed off to see this rancher elevating himself to some prophetic freedom fighter. What crap.
I remember friends traveling to the gathering to support the Dann sisters. If they had arrived carrying guns can you imagine how the fed would have responded?
When we protest road building into pristine areas, or try to interrupt illegal logging – we are jailed, pepper sprayed. I was once banned from National Forest land for a year, just for being arrested at a logging protest.
But these yahoos are here threatening violence, and they just decide to stop and give back the cattle? And of course, this is the one time BLM is trying to enforce the rules to protect the land and the wildlife – they gave him 20 years for free!

    • bundy is a shame to the American people .

  23. I look to these comments and see nobody seems to be getting the point the writer is trying to convey, instead i see blindness and ignorance.
You assume just because people flock to this fool it somehow Legitimizes his claim of divine right, and this grand sense of entitlement that people seem to have, not bothering to understand just how wrong and how oblivious this idiot (Bundy) is. Fact: he is illegally grazing his cattle on Treaty Disputed land. Fact: he just up and decided to no longer pay the fees everyone else pays just because he feels like a special snowflake, when in reality we all know he just wants to keep his cash and sponge off the land.
Fact:his claim of State Sovereignty is steeped in ignorance, Nevada has a Paramount Loyalty to the Union Written into its sate Constitution meaning anything the state has is freely surrendered to the Government upon request.
Fact: Just because his family settled on stolen land does not give him some kind of authority to create the near bloodbath this would have become.

Anyone claiming to Support Indigenous Rights and causes and then say they Support this Cliven Bundy loses all credibility.

There is no Corporate media at work on this page only the truth the entitled, privileged ,arrogant fail to understand.

  24. No wonder the BLM didn’t collect those grazing fees for so long. The BLM is mostly run by Mormons.

  25. we all live in this world together, no one really owns any of it, we should consider ourselves the caretakers of a planet, the monetary systems of the world will fall just like that of our ancestors, people will still kill people in the names of there religious beliefs and land will still be argued over. the more we are divided by skin colour, wealth and religion the easier it is for the corporation of government to control and dictate yours and my life! this is all just hiccups in the larger picture.

  26. Ogichidaag, the first thing I thought when this Cliven Bundy situation came up was “his land? He’s on Shoshone land!” I didn’t know about the Dann sisters, but I knew it’s not his land. Also, I think you gave way too much leeway for the ultra-right Ayn Rand loving twerps who don’t understand their white privilege. Keep posting the truth!

  27. Thanks for writing this article and for taking the time to reply to some of these ridiculous redneck comments. I’ll post it on FB and tell all my friends which is about all I can do at the moment.

  28. Inbred hillbillys would never be allowed into the Nazi party.

    Otherwise, good reading article.

  29. I’m not sure how he justifies what he’s doing by claiming “Mormon beliefs.” If he is a member of the church, he’d be instructed to obey the laws of the land.

  30. We need to be on the same side. You had a similar incident at Wounded Knee.

    • There is absolutely no similarity between Wounded Knee and Cliven Bundy. At Wounded Knee indigenous people were standing up for their collective rights on land that belonged to them. Cliven Bundy is not on his land. Cliven Bundy is not standing up for anyone’s rights except his. This is ridiculous.

  31. Stupid author that is propaganda trying to side natives with a Bundy. Lol. Let him “Bundy” rot like he would let a native rot.

  32. I am part native American …. this land is ours … what a crock of shit these bundy billionaires are … this land needs to be taken back by the people that it rightfully belongs to , and it sure isn’t the morons

  33. I think we get a petition going and get this land back to the rightful owners … I will gladly sign and share all over the usa ….

  35. I love how all you have to do to be accused of hate by the militia movement is to disagree with them. We didn’t show up with guns to some ranchers farm claiming we were ready to die. I just posted an article. I am not pro life so your comments about planned parenthood fall on deaf ears. Of course the majority of people who showed up to Cliven Bundy’s place gave no consideration to his race. He is white and they are white. He is Christian and they are Christian. Duh.
I never used the word Hate one time. You are the one who needs to let go and reach out. We have tried and tried and tried.

    • Sandra is suggesting that we should try to ally ourselves with the most right-wing, fascist elements of society – I disagree with her suggestion.

      • This is hilarious and shows how ignorant you are of politics. Communists and Socialists have traditionally fought against fascists. You people just turn black to white and white to black. Anarchists are not right wing this is absolutely false. You people probably believe Obama to be a communist or socialist and this is also false. He is capitalist.

      • Yeah I have unapproved Sandra’s comments. She is crazy.

  36. Amazing article! I thought the very same thing when I started reading about Bundy. I posted an article on the issue and spoke about how it was Ironic– all of a sudden a white man’s cattle or land, whatever, is being compromised and everybody has a huge issue about it! It’s like the moment something affects a white man shit hit’s the fan and their eye’s are suddenly open to the issues. And then I’m labeled a racist for speaking out about it. Ridiculous! Than call me a racist because I am passionate about the rights of Indigenous people. America is outrageous and people are so foolish. What’s right is right– This wealthy man should have to pay these fees and if not the Dann sisters should be reimbursed for all they lost. Which still would never be fair because one of those women has already walked on.

great article! keep writing, and keep spreading the truth!!!!

    • Unfortunately Mary Dann has now passed away.

      • Wow.

  37. Lets look at the basic point of all this is First, to pay what is due.Everyone has too pay for something they have used. Secondly, keep your damn hands off someone elses property. Thirdly he has no right to take something that isnt his, I don’t care who you are now. When you die you take NOTHING with you.
Pay for the use of the land and quit your bitchin…Damn this greed filled old man!!!
    .

  38. Regardless of religion, the sun baked lunatic who COULD afford to comply just chose NOT TO. Government should be going after him (investigate his finances, etc)

  39. Sandra, you need to hone up on your politics, Fascists/socialists are opposite sides of the coin. Can’t believe the ignorance of so many of my white brothers and sisters

  40. OK you are just wrong, you have such a small education on these issues it is sad. Anyway I think I am going to unapprove your comments. I will not let you use my site for your right wing propaganda.

    • Ogichidaag,
As I mentioned in my earlier post, I’ve already checked several dictionaries and I can’t find any dictionary that characterizes fascism as “left-wing”. I honestly don’t know where Sandra is getting that information from.

  41. Sandra, you said “Actually, fascists are left-wing” but you haven’t shown anything to prove your assertion. The dictionary definition that you gave does NOT say that fascists are left-wing. In fact, I can’t find anything in any dictionary that characterizes fascism as left-wing.

    • Yeah I am done letting these people use my site for their drivel.

  42. Historically, Native Americans of ALL regions of the United States have beat the odds and survived EVERY form of Genocide, even to this day. Also, EVERY AMERICAN must remember who are the true keepers of the Land, WE, Native America, are charged with the responsibility to defend the Land and that we will. If FEDERAL DIPLOMACY isn’t working maybe it’s time for them to feel TRIBAL DIPLOMACY… Remember America, EVERY INCH OF THE UNITED STATES, FROM ALL BORDERS, IS INDIAN COUNTRY.

  43. I am no longer accepting lunatic comments on here from people who equate socialism with fascism, or death threats, or militia crap until or if you right wing militia folks, you pro Bundy folks respond to this article posted below.

Please!

  44. […] of value or meaning to the conversation — and allows herself to miss the opportunity to speak the important truths that she could have otherwise spoken, had she elected to speak for the Moapa […]

    • Absolutely hilarious!

      • Explain this to me is PM Beers a serious person??Is this a hoax? White radicals going out to the Bundy ranch to show support? This is all a joke right?

  45. Bundy is another Welfare Queen of Ranching, who puts pregnant women and guns between him and justice…. in order to bully his way out of losing in court FOUR times. He somehow thinks he’s entitled to use 800,000 acres of land for free to conduct personal financial gain. He’s no different than a welfare mom who uses her monthly check for drugs. He’s a wanna-be cattle baron and he’s using the same sort of lynch-mob militia tactics they did back “then” (before barbed wire) to have their unlawful way.

He’s probably not someone, nor is this an incident to be compared to any native issue all which are about a nation of people and their heritage, and not some selfish personal greed. He’s just one big asshat fooling a lot of people onto his side with his “poor rancher” sob story. I’m not buying it, and neither should anyone else.

He’s in violation of his contract, his lease was terminated, he owes $1.2 million and he should go to jail, now, and stay there until his line dies out. But that’s the sum total of it. Native issues are a lot more important, and I don’t think they should be compared to this entitled dumbass’s tantrum.

    Just sayin’…..

    • Well said!
Actually the hypothetical welfare mom (who uses her welfare check for drugs) is a better person than Bundy because at least she is not a violent bully who is motivated by greed.

  46. Thank you. Since the sagebrush rebellions in the ’80’s every two years or so republicans spout off about selling off federal lands. I say the reply should always be return those “surplus” lands to indigenous people and restore treaties. We are nothing and bound by our violence of that genocide until we right those treaties (at least).

The first thing that I hear from fellow whites is – casinos. casinos is kinda a PR disaster for bringing economic opportunity to tribes. My personal issue is why with gaming being so popular in many traditional cultures why not have a portion of every casino set up for native gaming to allow people to participate. learn, and have joy from native culture. Personally i would never ever game Las Vegas style.

Regardless to all that my apologies to the Dann family and all others that have suffered in regards to manifest destiny. That manifest destiny ultimately brings suffering to whites as well.

  47. Reblogged this on Pamea's Blog and commented:
    More should be said.

  48. I oppose Bundy openly and passionately, but I want to correct one thing from the post:

He isn’t claiming his faith gives him a right to the land. It doesn’t. He is claiming his Mormon ancestors have ranched the land from before the federal government took possession of it. He is wrong in that claim, but please don’t pin his idiocy on his religion and its teachings. He is a criminal who is acting in opposition to his religion’s teachings.

    • I believe his religion and it’s teachings give him a sense of entitlement much in the way all Christians have treated this land and justified in based on their beliefs. The Mormon faith has committed horrendous crimes on indigenous people. The Mountain Meadow Massacre for example where they murdered a group of settlers and dressed up as Indians and then blamed it on them.

  49. If #ClivenBundy is Mormon, he has hated govt since Jimmy Carter forced his church to accept blacks http://blackrepublicanandmyworldview.wordpress.com/tag/mormons-ended-racism-only-after-jimmy-carter-threatened-church/

  50. Jimmy Carter did not force the Morman Church to allow AA people to participate in Temple rituals, this decision was made by a smart, sensitive, church leader David O McKay. He knew that this was only right and that it was racist to have a faith that was not inclusive. This has been a practice since. He was a forerunner in lifting barriers and providing access for all. After this many Clubs and Organizations changed their policies of exclusion. Mormans know better than most people what it means to be hunted down and murdered by an Government bent on killing off a whole community of people just wishing to be left alone to their beliefs. Do some better checking on your premises before you make cracks like that.
